Design and Recycling with a Heart
Our Mission is to transform and improve nonprofit environments through design.
Philanthropy By Design (PBD) is an award-winning 501(c)(3) organization of design industry professionals who volunteer their talents to renovate the interior environments of community service organizations. PBD’s pro-bono work benefits thousands of under-served Bay Area residents; at-risk youth, abused women, seniors, AIDS patients and homeless individuals… bringing them hope, inspiration and comfort.
For the last three years, our annual fundraiser, Heartfelt, has been a silent auction of art and objects made from Filzfelt remnants by some of the Bay Area’s top architects and designers. We look forward to hosting this again in 2020. Stay tuned for details!

What Our Clients Say
The residents LOVE the mural! Everyone is talking about it. I think it is a great addition. Thank you very much for your generosity!
On behalf of the Whistlestop Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and especially our participants, we want to thank so much for all your efforts in the transformation of our Transportation Building Call Center. You and your volunteer network and design professionals did an amazing job! Throughout the project, thank you for meeting with us several times, evaluating our needs, measured and designed the room, searched for furniture that would fit and talked to your vendors whom had considered donating to this cause. Not only did your team volunteer their incredible talents, but they did all this with amazing enthusiasm and support. Thank you!
We all share in the responsibility to ensure that Marin’s older adults and people living with disabilities have the opportunity to age with dignity, independence, and grace. Your generous support helps to make this possible.
